WooCommerce and Magistry

Connect WooCommerce with a read-only REST API key and Magistry syncs every product and variation into its catalog. Nothing is written back to your shop.

Status: Built, not live yet: no store has connected WooCommerce. The connection is read-only and syncs your catalog; orders and customers are not synced yet.

// what magistry does with it

What exists today

Every product and variation synced into Magistry's catalog.

Sale prices picked up on the next sync; products the shop does not sell are retired, not deleted.

Read-only: a key with Read permission is all it needs.

// data flow

What moves between WooCommerce and Magistry

Connection: REST API consumer key + secret (HTTP Basic over HTTPS).

SYNCS INTO MAGISTRY

  • Every product with its variations, mapped into Magistry's catalog.
  • The store's currency; a shop whose currency differs from the Magistry store's is refused before anything is written.
  • The shop's weight unit, so variation weights can be converted.
  • The price in force now, sale prices included; sale changes are picked up on the next sync.
  • Products the shop does not sell (draft, pending, private) are retired from Magistry's catalog, not deleted.

MAGISTRY CAN CHANGE

Nothing. WooCommerce is connect-only: Magistry reads it and writes nothing back.

WHAT IT CANNOT DO

  • Change anything in your shop; the connector is read-only.
  • Read cost prices; core WooCommerce has none, so a cost entered in Magistry is kept.
  • Store scheduled sale windows ahead of time.
  • Follow redirects on the shop address; enter the final https address.

How to connect WooCommerce

Connections happen in the dashboard. The connection is read-only: Magistry writes nothing to WooCommerce.
  1. 1In WordPress, open WooCommerce → Settings → Advanced → REST API and click Add key.
  2. 2Choose Read permission, generate the key, and copy the consumer key and secret.
  3. 3In Magistry's WooCommerce settings, paste them with your shop's https address.
  4. 4Magistry reads the shop with the keys before saving them, and tells you which part failed if it cannot.

// faq

Common questions

Does Magistry change my WooCommerce shop?

No. The connector only reads, so a REST API key with Read permission is all it needs.
