Magento and Magistry

Connect Magento with an integration and Magistry reads your products, stock and categories into its catalog. Every call is a read; nothing is written back.

Status: Built, not live yet: no store has connected Magento. The connection is read-only.

// what magistry does with it

What exists today

Every product, including configurable products and their children.

Stock status, quantity and backorder settings.

Categories and the attribute options configurable products vary on.

// data flow

What moves between Magento and Magistry

Connection: Integration (OAuth 1.0a, four values, HMAC-SHA256 signed requests).

SYNCS INTO MAGISTRY

  • Every product, including configurable products and their children.
  • Stock: in-stock status, quantity and backorder settings.
  • The attribute options configurable products vary on, used as variant titles.
  • Categories.
  • Store-view settings: base currency, weight unit, media URL and timezone.

MAGISTRY CAN CHANGE

Nothing. Magento is connect-only: Magistry reads it and writes nothing back.

WHAT IT CANNOT DO

  • Change anything in your shop; every call is a read.
  • Read stock per source on multi-source inventory; the default source's view is used.
  • Detect whether catalog prices include tax; you state it at connect, and a sync without it is refused.
  • Put Magento products in the product feed yet; they start inactive with no landing URL.

How to connect Magento

Connections happen in the dashboard. The connection is read-only: Magistry writes nothing to Magento.
  1. 1In the Magento admin, open System → Extensions → Integrations and click Add New Integration.
  2. 2Name it Magistry, set Resource Access to Custom and tick the listed resources; Magistry only reads with them.
  3. 3Save, click Activate, then Allow, and copy the consumer key, consumer secret, access token and access token secret.
  4. 4Check whether catalog prices include tax (Stores → Configuration → Sales → Tax) and choose the same in Magistry.
  5. 5Paste everything with your shop's https address; the keys are checked before saving.
