Connect ChatGPT Ads to Magistry

Connect ChatGPT Ads with your own API key and Magistry reads campaigns and performance, and steers budgets, status and ad copy under your write gate.

// what magistry does with it

What Magistry does with ChatGPT Ads

Campaigns, ad groups and ads with daily spend, impressions, clicks and conversions.

Account status, review state and serving issues read by the account audit.

Daily spend limits, status and ad copy changed through the write gate; copy edits always need approval.

Purchase events sent server-side to OpenAI's Conversions API, deduplicated with the browser pixel.

What moves between ChatGPT Ads and Magistry

Connection: API key (one key per ad account), pasted in Magistry.

SYNCS INTO MAGISTRY

  • Campaigns, ad groups and ads, including whether a budget is daily or lifetime.
  • Daily spend, impressions, clicks and conversions at campaign, ad group and ad level.
  • Account status, review state and serving issues per campaign, read by the account audit; anything that could not be read is named, not treated as clear.
  • What OpenAI's crawler saw at each ad's landing page.

MAGISTRY CAN CHANGE

  • Pause, resume or archive campaigns, ad groups and ads.
  • Set a campaign's daily spend limit. Changes go through the write gate: autopilot, the ChatGPT Ads domain allowed and a daily cap, or a member approving the change.
  • Replace an ad's title and body text. Copy edits always need approval.
  • Set an ad group's maximum bid and its context hints (the text a conversation is matched against) when you change them on Magistry's Ads page.
  • On request, create a pixel, a Conversions API key and an order event setting in your ad account. No campaign is touched.
  • Send purchase events server-side to OpenAI's Conversions API, deduplicated with the browser pixel.

WHAT IT CANNOT DO

  • Change a campaign's bidding type: OpenAI makes it fixed after creation. Only the ad group bid moves.
  • Add negative keywords: ChatGPT ads are matched to a conversation, not a typed query.
  • Turn a lifetime budget into a daily one; a lifetime-budget campaign is refused by the daily budget write.
  • Create new ChatGPT Ads campaigns: the standard create path refuses, and the paused-first campaign builder in the code has no job or screen that runs it yet.
  • Report conversion value (revenue) in performance; it is stored as not reported, never as zero.
  • Make changes on its own without autopilot, the ChatGPT Ads domain allowed and a daily cap set.

How to connect ChatGPT Ads

Connections happen in the dashboard. Everything starts propose-only; autonomy is a separate step you take later.
  1. 1In OpenAI Ads Manager, create an Ads API key for your ad account (or ask your OpenAI Ads contact for one).
  2. 2In Magistry, open Settings → Integrations and, under Advertising, find "Ads in ChatGPT, with your own API key" and paste the key.
  3. 3Magistry checks the key with a read before saving it; nothing is written to the account.
  4. 4To let Magistry change the account, set autopilot, allow the ChatGPT Ads domain and set a daily cap on Ads → Settings.
  5. 5Optional: on the Tracking page, choose "Set it up for me" to create the pixel and Conversions API key.
