Bookkeeping, built into Magistry.

Magistry Finance is our own bookkeeping engine. It keeps a double-entry ledger, imports your bank statements, reconciles them against invoices and payouts, and prepares the Dutch VAT return from the same books. Every figure can be traced back to the entries behind it.

// what it does

The books, kept next to the business they describe.

01

A double-entry ledger

Every entry balances to the cent before it is booked, foreign currency included. A chart of accounts with Dutch RGS codes, a journal, a trial balance, a profit and loss and a balance sheet.

02

Bank statement import

CAMT.053, MT940 and CSV files, with layouts for ING, Rabobank, ABN AMRO, bunq, Knab, Triodos, Revolut Business, Wise and Amex. You see what an import will add before it lands.

03

Reconciliation and rules

Match an incoming payment to the invoices it pays. Your own rules book the bank lines they cover, and Magistry proposes a booking for the rest for a person to confirm.

04

VAT, prepared

The VAT return, the ICP statement, corrections and OSS are worked out from the ledger, with their deadlines. You file the return yourself in Mijn Belastingdienst Zakelijk.

05

Store payouts as entries

A Shopify payout or a bol invoice books as one summarised entry per month, with the cost of goods booked beside it. A payout that does not add up is held back and the gap is shown.

06

Invoices and exports

Sales invoices with a UBL download, documents linked to the entries they support, and a full export of the books, including an XAF audit file for your accountant.

// a month in the books

From statement to VAT return.

// import

Upload the month's bank statements. Each line is checked against the running balance, and a duplicate of a line already imported is skipped.

// book and match

Rules book the lines they cover. You match payments to open invoices, and store payouts settle against their own account. What is left waits in one list for a person.

// close and prepare

Close the period with its checklist and sign-off, then read the VAT figures from the closed books, each one traced back to its entries.
