Magistry vs TrueProfit
Pick TrueProfit if you want an accurate profit dashboard and you will act on it yourself. Pick Magistry if the point of knowing the margin is that the catalog and the ad budget should follow it. TrueProfit starts at $35/month for 300 orders; Magistry at $99/month with no order limit.
Magistry is an autonomous operations platform for Shopify stores. TrueProfit is an real-time net-profit and LTV analytics app. Every TrueProfit figure on this page is quoted from their own public pages, with the source and the date we read it in the table below. Where they do not publish something, the cell says so instead of guessing.
Magistry and TrueProfit compared, dimension by dimension
Each row is one feature, with the source it was verified against and the date. Rows where TrueProfit does not offer something are marked as not offered, not scored as a failure — the two products overlap on measurement and diverge everywhere else.

| Dimension | Magistry | TrueProfit | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| What the product is | An autonomous operations platform for Shopify stores. Margin, refunds and ad spend are read together and used to decide what the store sells and advertises. | A net-profit analytics app: a real-time profit dashboard, LTV, quantity-based COGS, P&L reporting and marketing attribution. | TrueProfit on the Shopify App Storeretrieved 25 August 2026 |
| Entry price for a paid plan | $99/month (Starter) with 1,000 AI-credits. Order volume does not appear in the price. | $35/month (Basic) covering 300 orders a month, then $0.30 per extra order with the surcharge capped at $300. | TrueProfit on the Shopify App Storeretrieved 25 August 2026 |
| What the bill scales on | A plan fee plus a monthly allowance of AI-credits: $0 / $99 / $249 / $499, credits beyond it at $0.12. Order count never moves it. | Monthly order count. Basic $35 for 300; Advanced $60 for 600 then $0.20 each; Ultimate $100 for 1,500 then $0.10 each; Enterprise $200 for 3,500 then $0.07 each. | TrueProfit on the Shopify App Storeretrieved 25 August 2026 |
| Worst case at high volume | $499/month on Scale, plus AI-credits above the 5,200 allowance at $0.12 each. Order count contributes nothing. | The plan fee plus the surcharge cap: $335 on Basic, $560 on Advanced, $800 on Ultimate, $1,200 on Enterprise. The caps are published, which is more than most order-metered apps do. | TrueProfit on the Shopify App Storeretrieved 25 August 2026 |
| What happens after the margin is known | The catalog agent changes the product's state and the campaign agent moves the spend behind it — each write reversible and on the decision log. The number is the input to a decision, not the output. | The numbers are reported in the dashboard, in P&L reports and by email. Acting on them is the operator's job. | TrueProfit on the Shopify App Storeretrieved 25 August 2026 |
| Marketing attribution | Server-side events, click-id capture and conversion upload, with a check that what was uploaded is what the ad account recorded. | Marketing attribution is included, on the $200 Enterprise plan. | TrueProfit on the Shopify App Storeretrieved 25 August 2026 |
| How you try it | The Launch plan is free and perpetual but propose-only: agents recommend and you approve. No time-limited trial of the paid tiers. | A 14-day free trial on every plan. | TrueProfit on the Shopify App Storeretrieved 25 August 2026 |
| What it does not do | No standalone bookkeeping-grade P&L export and no accounting integrations. Margin is used to decide, not to file. | Profit measurement and reporting. Catalog state, feed health, campaign writes, customer service and disputes are outside its scope by design. | TrueProfit on the Shopify App Storeretrieved 25 August 2026 |
Where TrueProfit is better than Magistry
Every comparison page on this site names at least one point where the other product wins. Here are 4.
Much cheaper for a small store
$35/month against $99, and a store doing 300 orders a month pays no surcharge at all. If profit visibility is the whole requirement, Magistry is nearly three times the price for capacity you would not be using.
The bill has a published ceiling
Every plan states its maximum surcharge — $300, $500, $700, $1,000. Most order-metered apps do not publish that number, and it is the one a finance team asks for.
A real trial
14 days free on every plan. Magistry's free tier is perpetual but propose-only, so you cannot try the autonomous half without paying.
Depth of profit reporting
Quantity-based COGS, weight-based shipping cost, bundling insights, unlimited COGS zones and customisable email reports. Magistry models margin well enough to decide with; it does not report on it to that depth.
Choose TrueProfit if…
- You want the number, and you will act on it yourself
- A competent operator reading an accurate P&L daily does not need software to make the call. Magistry's argument is that the acting is the expensive part, and that argument does not apply if the acting is already happening.
- Your order count is low
- At 300 orders a month TrueProfit is $35 and Magistry is $99. That gap only closes when you count what else is in the Magistry bill.
- You need bookkeeping-grade cost modelling
- Quantity-based COGS, weight-based shipping, unlimited COGS zones and a P&L report built to be exported. That is their product; it is not Magistry's.
Choose Magistry if…
- A margin number should change what gets sold and advertised
- Magistry classifies every product against the store's own performance distribution — cost, refunds, shipping, ad spend — and the catalog state and the feed follow that classification. A dashboard tells you which products are losing money; it cannot stop them being advertised.
- Your order count grows faster than your decisions
- TrueProfit meters orders and Magistry does not. A store that doubles its volume without doubling the number of decisions being made pays TrueProfit more and Magistry the same.
- You are consolidating subscriptions
- If profit analytics sits beside a feed tool, a tracking layer, a helpdesk and a chargeback service, compare the whole stack. Magistry covers all of them between $99 and $499 a month, and they share one set of store data rather than five copies of it.
- You want the reasoning, and the undo
- Every action is on an append-only decision log with its rollback staged at write time. A reporting tool shows you what happened; it does not show you what it decided, because it does not decide anything.
Running Magistry and TrueProfit side by side, or moving between them
Nothing collides
TrueProfit reads your store and reports; Magistry reads it and acts. Neither writes what the other writes, so running both is safe and fairly common while you are deciding.
A useful way to evaluate
Keep TrueProfit as the independent scoreboard for a month while Magistry's agents run. If the two disagree about margin on a product, that disagreement is worth more than either number on its own — cost models differ, and finding out how is the point.
If you are consolidating onto Magistry
Export the COGS model first: quantity-based costs, shipping rules and any zone logic. That is the part with real work in it, and it is what Magistry's decisions will be only as good as.
Questions about Magistry and TrueProfit
Is Magistry a TrueProfit alternative?
For knowing which products make money and acting on it, yes. For bookkeeping-grade cost modelling and P&L reporting — quantity-based COGS, weight-based shipping, unlimited COGS zones, exportable reports — no. TrueProfit goes deeper there and that is the product.
How much does TrueProfit cost?
As published on their Shopify App Store listing on 25 August 2026: Basic $35/month for 300 orders then $0.30 per extra order capped at $300; Advanced $60/month for 600 orders then $0.20 capped at $500; Ultimate $100/month for 1,500 orders then $0.10 capped at $700; Enterprise $200/month for 3,500 orders then $0.07 capped at $1,000. Every plan has a 14-day free trial and all charges are billed in USD.
How much does Magistry cost?
Launch is $0/month with 50 AI-credits, Starter $99/month with 1,000, Growth $249/month with 2,600 and Scale $499/month with 5,200. Credits beyond the allowance are $0.12 each. Order count does not affect the price. There is no trial; Launch is perpetual and propose-only.
Which is cheaper at 3,000 orders a month?
TrueProfit, on price alone: the Ultimate plan at $100/month plus $0.10 for each of the 1,500 orders over its allowance, which reaches the $700 cap only far above that volume — so around $250 at 3,000 orders. Magistry is $99 to $499 depending on how much agent work the store generates. The comparison changes when you count what else is in the Magistry bill.
Does Magistry replace my profit dashboard?
It gives you the margin picture the decisions are made from, not a finance-grade P&L. If somebody needs to reconcile against the books, keep the reporting tool; if the question is which products deserve stock and ad spend, Magistry answers it and then does something about it.
What does Magistry do with the margin number that a dashboard cannot?
It changes the product's state and the spend behind it. A product losing money after refunds and shipping is drafted or de-prioritised in the feed, and the campaigns funding it stop — as reversible writes on a decision log, under limits the operator sets.
Can I run TrueProfit and Magistry together?
Yes, and it is a reasonable way to evaluate. Neither writes what the other writes. Where their margin figures disagree, compare the cost models rather than picking the friendlier number.
How this comparison was made
Every TrueProfit figure was read off the public pages listed below on the retrieval date shown, and is quoted rather than summarised. Nothing about TrueProfit on this page comes from a third-party review, a sales conversation or an estimate. If a value is not published, the table says so.
Magistry’s own figures are taken from the product’s billing configuration and the modules named in each row, not from our marketing copy. Prices are the same numbers the application charges.
This page is comparative advertising under Dutch and EU law (art. 6:194a BW, implementing Directive 2006/114/EC). It compares products serving the same need on material, relevant, verifiable and representative features including price, names at least one point where TrueProfit is better, and does not denigrate TrueProfit or its marks. Found something wrong? Mail hello@magistry.io and we will correct it — including if you work at TrueProfit.
Vendor pricing changes. A verification job re-fetches every source below and reports when a quoted value disappears from the page, so a stale claim surfaces as a task rather than sitting here. Lastfull verification: 25 August 2026.
