Magistry vs Chargeflow

Pick Chargeflow if you want chargebacks handled with no fixed cost and are happy to give up 25% of what comes back. Pick Magistry if you dispute enough that a success fee outgrows a subscription, or you want disputes handled beside the ads and catalog that produced them. No fixed cost against $99/month.

Where Chargeflow is better than Magistry

Every comparison page on this site names at least one point where the other product wins. Here are 4.

  • No fixed cost, ever

Free to install and nothing to pay until money comes back. For a store with a handful of disputes a month that is unambiguously the better deal, and no subscription can match a zero.

  • Interests aligned by construction

They are paid only when you win. A flat fee is paid whether the evidence package is any good or not, and that is a real difference in incentive, not a debating point.

  • Prevention and deflection, which Magistry does not have

Network-level alerts stop a dispute before it is filed. Magistry has no equivalent — it can only fight what has already been raised.

  • Every payment provider, not just Shopify Payments

Their listing states it works with all payment providers and supports multi-shop. Magistry's module is scoped to Shopify Payments on a Shopify store.

Choose Chargeflow if…

Your dispute volume is low
Work out 25% of what you realistically recover in a month. If it is under the plan fee you would be paying anyway, the success-fee model wins and it is not close.
You are not on Shopify Payments
Magistry's module is scoped to Shopify Payments. If your disputes arrive through another processor, or across several shops on different processors, Chargeflow covers ground Magistry does not.
You want the disputes prevented, not fought
Deflection alerts and prevention scanning are a different product from evidence submission, and Magistry does not have them. If most of your chargebacks are friendly fraud you could have intercepted, that is where the money is.

Choose Magistry if…

A success fee grows with you and a subscription does not
At €4,000 recovered in a month the fee is €1,000. The plan fee is the same in a good month and a bad one, and it also buys catalog, ads, feeds, tracking and customer service. The crossover is arithmetic, so do it: total recovered × 25% against the plan you would be on anyway.
The evidence is already in the system
A dispute is won on order data, fulfilment proof and the conversation with the customer. On Magistry all three live in the same place as the dispute, because the same platform took the order, ran the ads that sold it and answered the emails.
You are consolidating subscriptions
If a chargeback service sits beside a helpdesk, a feed tool and an attribution dashboard, compare the stack rather than the line. Magistry covers all of them between $99 and $499 a month.
You want to see the reasoning, and undo it
Every action is on an append-only decision log with its rollback staged at write time. A managed service reports outcomes; it does not hand you the working.

Running Magistry and Chargeflow side by side, or moving between them

They do not collide

One is a service acting on your behalf at the processor; the other is software in your store. The thing to avoid is submitting two evidence packages for one dispute — decide per dispute who owns it, not per week.

The split that usually makes sense

Chargeflow keeps prevention and deflection, which Magistry has no equivalent for. Magistry takes the evidence packages for Shopify Payments disputes, where the order and conversation history it already holds is the material the case is made from.

If you are consolidating onto Magistry

Run one full dispute cycle in parallel before switching: banks take weeks to rule, so a month of overlap is the shortest honest test. Compare win rate on comparable disputes, not total recovered, since the mix moves month to month.

Questions about Magistry and Chargeflow

Is Magistry a Chargeflow alternative?

For building and submitting evidence on Shopify Payments disputes, yes. For chargeback prevention, network deflection alerts, or disputes on other payment providers, no — Chargeflow covers all three and Magistry covers none of them.

How much does Chargeflow cost?

As published on their Shopify App Store listing and pricing page on 25 August 2026: free to install, then 25% of recovered chargebacks, with no payment until a chargeback is recovered. Prevention scanning is charged per scanned transaction with the first 1,000 free, and deflection alerts are charged per deflected chargeback. They publish a 4x ROI guarantee on the automation product.

How much does Magistry cost?

Launch is $0/month with 50 AI-credits, Starter $99/month with 1,000, Growth $249/month with 2,600 and Scale $499/month with 5,200. Credits beyond the allowance are $0.12 each. Dispute volume does not affect the price and there is no share of what you recover.

At what dispute volume does a flat fee beat 25%?

Do the arithmetic on your own numbers: monthly recovered amount × 25% against the plan fee. At $400 recovered a month the fee is $100, which is roughly the Starter plan — and the plan also covers catalog, ads, feeds, tracking and customer service, so the honest comparison is against the whole stack you would otherwise buy. Below that, the success fee is cheaper.

Does Magistry take a cut of what it recovers?

No. Recovered funds are yours in full. The only cost is the plan fee and the AI-credits the evidence work consumes.

Can Magistry prevent chargebacks?

Not at the card network. What it does is upstream and indirect: the customer service agent answers the customer before a dispute is filed, and settlements it agrees are recorded against the order. That reduces the friendly-fraud disputes that start as an unanswered email, and does nothing about the rest.

Can I run Chargeflow and Magistry together?

Yes, provided one owner per dispute. The common split is Chargeflow keeping prevention and deflection and Magistry building the evidence packages for Shopify Payments disputes.

How this comparison was made

Every Chargeflow figure was read off the public pages listed below on the retrieval date shown, and is quoted rather than summarised. Nothing about Chargeflow on this page comes from a third-party review, a sales conversation or an estimate. If a value is not published, the table says so.

Magistry’s own figures are taken from the product’s billing configuration and the modules named in each row, not from our marketing copy. Prices are the same numbers the application charges.

This page is comparative advertising under Dutch and EU law (art. 6:194a BW, implementing Directive 2006/114/EC). It compares products serving the same need on material, relevant, verifiable and representative features including price, names at least one point where Chargeflow is better, and does not denigrate Chargeflow or its marks. Found something wrong? Mail hello@magistry.io and we will correct it — including if you work at Chargeflow.

Vendor pricing changes. A verification job re-fetches every source below and reports when a quoted value disappears from the page, so a stale claim surfaces as a task rather than sitting here. Lastfull verification: 25 August 2026.
